ASSESSOR CARMEN CHU ANNOUNCES CITY’S ECONOMIC RELIEF PACKAGE TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES
SAN FRANCISCO, CA --- Earlier today, San Francisco announced measures to support small businesses experiencing a slowdown and closures as a result of COVID-19. City leaders, including Assessor Carmen Chu, worked to identify and create a local economic relief package for impacted businesses, including the deferral of business tax payments, license fees and continued support for nonprofits funded by the City.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is having many impacts on our communities, including dramatic harm to small businesses. Small businesses are seeing their revenue plummet, and most have closed to protect public health,” said Assessor-Recorder Carmen Chu. “Our small businesses and all the people they employ are hurting right now. These are our neighbors and our friends. That is why it is so important for us to come together as one City to do right by our communities by bringing forward an immediate local tax relief program.”
The City has created a one-stop resource for employers and employees outlining all existing resources, contacts for assistance, and to provide updates on the City’s growing response to the business community. Website: www.oewd.org/covid19
