ASSESSOR CARMEN CHU’S STATEMENT ON UTILITIES TO STOP SHUTOFFS OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES DURING COVID-19
SAN FRANCISCO, CA --- Assessor Carmen Chu released the following statement regarding San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)’s decision to suspend water and power shutoffs for delinquent payments and to waive penalties during the local COVID-19 Emergency.
“During this extremely difficult time, we need to do our best to meet our community’s most basic needs. Having running water and power is as basic as it gets,” said Assessor Chu, “I commend the SFPUC on their action. Their announcement provides immediate relief to our neighbors and friends who are struggling to make it through the week.”
