ASSESSOR CARMEN CHU TO ANNOUNCE PROP. 19 OUTREACH EFFORTS

Launching one-stop shop resource page and webinar series to help families
be prepared (multilingual resources available)

SAN FRANCISCO --- In November, California voters passed Proposition 19 which makes changes to property tax benefits for families, seniors, severely disabled persons, and victims of natural disaster in our state.  In response, the San Francisco Assessor’s Office has developed a dedicated webpage(SFAssessor.org/Prop19to consolidate resources such as video tutorials, frequently asked questions, forms and reference links, in one place. To help answer questions families may have, our office is also hosting a free webinar on January 5, 2021 at noon. Learn more and register today by visiting SFAssessor.org/Prop19

Proposition 19 (2020), also commonly known as the “Realtor’s Measure”, will replace and bring changes to two statewide property tax saving programs: the parent-child transfer exclusion (effective February 16, 2021) and senior assessment transfer (effective April 1, 2021). Since they are the most inquired programs in our Office’s annual financial education event – the Family Wealth Forum, Assessor Chu, founder of the Family Wealth Forum, is launching a citywide outreach and education effort to families prepare for the upcoming changes.
